Our little Princess

I have been meaning to post some of the Leah's latest phrases. She is talking so well now that I can't even keep up with all the words she knows. After Cameron was born, it seemed like a whole flood of words started coming out of her mouth. One of our favorite phrases happened when she was sitting on the potty and talking to Logan. Potty training is not in full effect yet but she is getting there. She loves to sit on it but not much comes out.

She thought that she had to poop one day (pardon my potty talk) so Logan ran with her into the bathroom. She sat on it for awhile and after trying to go, she finally made the conclusion, "No poop coming out Leah's bum." I know this is not the most appropriate phrase to share online, but it was so funny and such a long sentence for her. She usually talks about herself in the third person "Leah jumping off stool" or "Leah's pretty dress" but I know it is all part of being two.

She continues to amaze every day. She knows what happens in her favorite books that we read to her and she can finish the last word on almost every page. We have been listening to a group of Disney songs from many different movies, and she usually requests to hear the Peter Pan "You can Fly" and the Snow White song "Heigh-Ho". She tries to sing these songs throughout the day.

She loves to sit on our laps while we're on the computer and she even asks to put the computer on her lap. "(Com)Puter on Leah's lap. Me busy."
I guess she has heard us say that many times.

Cameron is 2 months old!

I can't believe it's already been two months since Cameron was born. I remember those days before his birth that went by so slowly with all the waiting and anticipation of him arriving. But now they are flying by. He is smiling so much, and he is so responsive when you talk to him. He loves to coo and open his bright blue eyes when he is in a good mood. And he's still been sleeping so well. A few nights ago he even slept for eight hours and the night before he slept for seven. We're hoping this continues. Logan and I were joking that he's already had more 7-8 hour nights of sleep than Leah had by her first birthday.

I took him to his 2-month check up today, and he is a very long boy. Here are the stats:
26 inches long - 99.75 percentile
13 pounds 5 ounces - 88 percentile

I was looking back at Leah's stats at 2 months old and this is how big she was.

23 inches long - 76 percentile for height
13 pounds, 11 ounces - 97 percentile for weight

She was shorter and chubbier than Cameron, but still pretty close to the same size.

No more free cable

I'm so bummed. Since we moved in our apartment we have received free cable from Comcast. Our landlord wasn't sure why this duplex could get free cable, but it just happened that way. I think they had maintenance guys come over before, and they couldn't figure out why either.

So all this time, Logan and I have been able to enjoy our favorite programs: What Not to Wear, the Bachelor, American Idol, the house show on HGTV, ESPN (for Logan), and the Office (both of us enjoy this one). But alas, those days of free cable are over. We changed our internet provider from Comcast to a fiber-optic company last week because it was cheaper and had to cancel our account with Comcast. I guess the guy who came out to disconnect our Internet found a way to turn off our cable as well. If we knew that our cable would be disconnected, I probably would have said "Let's just pay the extra $5 for Comcast." What a bummer! I guess I just have to find other ways to spend my lonely nights while Logan is working late.

What happens to little girls when they don't take a nap...

I tried all afternoon to get Leah to nap, but instead she played in her bedroom. So around 3 p.m. I took the kids to Target and another grocery store to buy a few things. She was happy the rest of the day. But when I made her stay in her booster chair while I was making dinner, she was sad and almost crying. Then Cameron started crying so I picked him up and starting humming to him.

And in the middle of eating dinner, she started closing her eyes and drooping her head. I picked her up and took her straight to her bed at 6:30 p.m. She tried to sit up and say "tell Peter Pan story" (her favorite bedtime story these days), but I just laid her down and she went right to sleep. It was the easiest bedtime routine ever.

As you can see, it was so funny. I remember my brother sending me a video of his son Dallin doing the exact same thing. And I never thought Leah was capable of doing that. But I was wrong.

Cameron cooing

Cameron has really been cooing a lot lately when he's awake and happy. It's almost like we're having a conversation. He is very vocal and smiley when we talk to him. This video was taken just before I was going to give him a bath. At the very end of the video, you can see how big he is because I zoomed out.

Cameron's Blessing Day

Today in church Logan gave a wonderful blessing to Cameron. A baby blessing is a chance for the child to receive a priesthood blessing of all the gifts the Lord sees fit to bless him with and a chance for the child’s name to be placed on the records of the church.

We had some great support from Logan's family (his parents, siblings, grandparents, cousin, and an aunt and uncle) as well as my two aunts and uncles, and our friends Dave and Sarah Peris. Cameron was quiet for the entire blessing and was dozing off during it.

Cameron wore the onesie outfit and vest that Logan wore when he was blessed as a baby. And then I bought him a little sweater and pants set funded by my parents. They wanted to make a contribution to the event even though they could not make it to the blessing. We missed them!

It was a crazy day getting up and getting our kids ready for church at 9 a.m., and it was snowing pretty heavy outside. Plus Leah has been getting sick this weekend with a running and stuffy nose and a cough. And to top things off, Logan had a short meeting at 8:30 a.m. so I had to finish getting ready by myself. But we made it with plenty of time to spare after driving our kids across the street to church. We just didn't want Leah walking in the snow, nor did I want to.

Here is a picture of Logan, Cameron and Logan's dad David. We gave Cameron the middle name of David after his dad and Logan's good friend Dave Peris (mentioned previously) with whom he served his mission. We tried to take a family picture but our kids were not cooperating, and I was not smiling well because I was worried about them. So I decided not to post one. Just enjoy the ones of Cameron. He is so sweet in all the pics I took.

I'm in love...

...with my new stroller. We just got our new double umbrella stroller today, and it's great. We have been trying to decide the past few months whether to get a double, which one to get, and how much to spend. And we finally have one. It's a Chicco Trevi Twin - Adventure, and it was the only one that had the features we wanted. I know there were a couple of things that people said they didn't like in the reviews like the small storage baskets and the smaller shades, but I think it's going to work out for us just great.

I was so proud of myself for unwrapping it, putting the wheels and shades on, and figuring out how to use it. And doing it while caring for Leah and Cameron. Then I took it to the mall to try it out, and I was very pleased. Because it's a side-by-side, it's a little harder to fit through the doors and in tight aisles at the store. But I feel like it's a lot easier to maneuver than a front-and-back one.

Leah still likes riding in the stroller so I thought this would be a great asset. As soon as she came out of her room from her "nap" (which consisted of her playing in her room the whole time -that problem can have a post of its own), she wanted to play with and sit on the stroller. And she loves to look over at Cameron and say hi. I love that both sides can recline so I can put him in it even as a newborn. And I can fold up the bottom so he's extra secure.

What do you all think? Did I pick a good one? What has worked for all of you mothers of two or more?

Full of smiles

It's so fun to go through the infant stages with Cameron and to see him learning to smile and responding to our faces. His whole face just lights up when he smiles, and it warms my heart to see him do it. I really don't even mind changing him during the day because he always give me a huge grin. He is a really happy baby, and he loves to snuggle with mom or dad. And when Leah is playing in the living room, he likes to be facing out to watch the action. He seems to be getting a lot bigger and longer and growing out of all his 0-3 month clothes. I can't wait to find out how long he is and how much he weighs at his tw0-month doctor's visit.

Here's a picture of Leah around the same age as Cameron. Notice her chubby cheeks, and the rest of her was pretty chubby as well.

My two little munchkins

Leah is such a good big sister for Cameron. She lets me know when he is crying, even if I'm right there in the room next to him. She loves to come up and say "Hi Cameron" over and over, especially when he's trying to fall asleep. I'm still trying to adjust to having two children. It makes things a little tricky when Logan works nights and doesn't get home until after Leah is in bed. But I'm doing my best.

(Sorry about the photo being turned wrong. I don't know how to change it in Blogger.)

We've had a lot of snow in the last few weeks so they are getting a little restless at home. Leah loves to play with and read her several princess books and loves to play with any kind of stickers. The other day she wanted to get into Cameron's crib with him while he was awake, and she kept bouncing on her knees and almost bumping into him.

And she usually wants to put his binkie back into his mouth even when he's not fussing. I think she will be another mother in our house.

Cameron continues to be a good baby. He has been sleeping longer stretches at night, and last night he slept for six hours. Logan said not to get my hopes up because that was only one night, but I am still excited and hoping for the best. He is also starting to smile at us more, and he has the most adorable tuft of hair that usually looks like a mohawk. But his hair is not the only thing that's adorable. Well, just look at him. Isn't he the cutest little boy? Okay, maybe I'm biased.
