Three months old

I have to post about Cameron's three month mark since we will be in Texas later this week, and I'm sure I won't have time to do it. He continues to be a happy and easy going baby, though I can't wait too long to feed him because he'll let you know he's hungry. He has started to watch Leah more and more and smiles at her. I think he will do this even more as he gets older and more aware.

I just love to have him on my lap when Leah is asleep and just talk to him and listen to him coo back to me. He gets so animated when you give him your full attention.

He is still long as come be, and he's been wearing 6-month size clothing. Some of the 6-month sizes though are too wide for his skinny legs and waist. It's been fun to see him grow so long and not as chubby compared to Leah.

His little tuft of hair still sticks up when it dries. When his hair is wet, the tuft will curl on top. I think it would be fun if he has some wave to his hair.
He is still sleeping 5-6 hours straight at night, but I wish he would extend that a little longer. We might be starting some sleep training techniques after my trip.

Preparing for Texas

This Thursday I'm hoppin' on a plane to Texas to hang out with my fam for the weekend. My younger sister Angie has decided to go through the temple for the first time, and I wanted to be there for it. We decided that I would just go by myself and Cameron, and Leah will be staying with Logan's mom for a couple of days and with Logan for the other two days. I'm sad that Logan and Leah won't be coming with me, but I think it will work out better for all of us this way. I'm so excited to see my brother Matt, his wife Kristin and their darling family as well as the other members of my family who live in Texas.

I think we'll plan on going there this summer as a family for a week trip. Then Leah can go swimming and play with her Nana and Papa. I just wish that it wasn't so darn expensive to fly there.

Leah dancing around

This was a video of Leah dancing around on our drive way in her diaper. This was last fall before Cameron was born.

Trying to get a good night's sleep

Before Cameron was born, I bought the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" which was one that I read a little while Leah was a baby but didn't really get into it. We didn't know that we would need to train Leah to sleep through the night until she was six or seven months old. She got into some pretty bad habits and continues to have trouble sleeping some times.

So I thought that when we had Cameron I would learn more about how to get your children to sleep well and try my best to use the methods earlier with him.

So far, he has done much better at sleeping than Leah. He usually sleeps for 5-7 hour stretches at night, and takes 2-3 hour naps in the afternoon. And he doesn't sleep at night with a pacifier. This was a bad habit that Leah developed as a baby that as soon as the binkie came out, she would awake and we would have to put it back in. I hope we can continue to help Cameron sleep well, and by the time he's four months (just a ball-park figure) he'll be sleeping straight through the night. That would be wonderful, especially since it seems like I haven't had a good night's rest in a long time.

Here's a recent picture of Leah playing with Logan on Sunday afternoon. I'm usually feeding or changing Cameron so she loves to have one-on-one time with Logan. She's had some issues with taking a nap this week. I guess some days she doesn't feel tired enough to lay still and fall asleep. So this morning I took her to a McDonald's with an indoor play area. I think climbing all through the tunnels made her tired enough because she took a nap today. And I am a happy mom when that happens.
