September in a flash

I'm been putting this off long enough. I need to update this blog. September seemed like only a week went by, and now it's the end of the month. And the fall weather has made us excited about the all the fun fall activities coming up. Here are my favorite people in the whole world, and I'll tell you what we have been up to lately (these are just a few things).

Doing fun hair styles on Leah and Cameron's hair. A friend pointed out this really fun website for fixing girls' hair so I have tried a couple of experiments with Leah's hair. I let Leah sit and watch part of a movie so she will hold still for me long. Otherwise, I can't get her to hold her head still.

This is what it looked like when I took all those braids out that night. I wish she didn't want to take a bath that night so she could wear her hair like this the next day.

My attempt at a Mohawk with Cameron's hair, and I wanted to show how long it is getting.

Here's the kids wrestling as Cameron tries to grab Leah's nose. I guess he's starting to learn how to stick up for himself though we'll have to watch him around other kids. He likes to grab people's faces.

And here's Leah with the Mr. Potato lips in her mouth.

King Cameron and Princess Leah

This one is for you, Megan!

I got some additional pictures from Leah's party on a disc from my friend in the ward. She was so nice to take pictures at the party while I was herding the kids around. It was fun to look back at the pics and see how much fun Leah had with her friends. She was so spoiled! Here's a few other ones that she gave me.

Our daughter, Snow White

For her birthday Leah got a fun dress up set from our generous friends. She wore this outfit for about three days in a row after her birthday party. And she keeps talking about being Snow White for Halloween. And her favorite game was to play "I lost my glass slipper" with one of the Snow White shoes. Logan would get the slipper and chase the princess and try to fit the shoe of everyone's foot before he tried Leah's foot. She wanted to play this game over and over.

Rewind back a week

I have been meaning to post these all week. Here are some shots from Leah's birthday party (Sept. 5). We had a great time with all the kids, 11 in all were there.

This is Leah helping me make cookies the night before the party. She is not a big fan of cake so we made her favorite sugar cookies. I was pretty stressed getting ready for it, but I think everything turned out. It was just a little crazy getting all the kids that age to play organized games.

Leah and our neighbor friend, Marshall. Marshall and Leah love to play outside together now that she is a little older. (She even told me once that she was going to marry Marshall in the temple. So cute!) I gave all the kids crowns to be princesses and princes. Most of the kids kept their crowns on for the party, but they started coming off just as every one was leaving. So now we have about 8 crowns still at our house. Any one need one?

Here's the little picnic after we played some games. Leah opened her gifts while all the kids were sitting down. (She wanted to open the gifts before the party ever started). Then she went up to each one and gave them hugs.

She loved everyone's gifts. She is still playing with them, and they usually keep her busy in the morning when she wakes up early. And we get to sleep in a little later. Thank you everyone who came and made her day SOO special!

Our favorite shots of the day:
Jake had a great baseball stance. I think he'll be hitting homers in the Major League some day.

Emma put on her crown upside down, and it kind of looks like her brother Aiden is embarrassed of her.

I just witnessed a miracle...

Leah fell asleep on her own for her afternoon nap. I didn't have to tell her a story, sing a bunch of songs and say a prayer. She cried for a little bit and fell asleep. And I was so relieved. Here's the background story:

We had read books while she was going to bathroom, and she was getting settled in her bed.
I was turning off the light, and we were arguing because she wanted one more book.
Then Cameron was trying to climb up on to her bed like he always does, and she kicks him and he goes flying and lands on his back on the floor. I get mad at her and pick him up while he's crying, and I went to put him to bed because it was getting close to his nap time.

So she cried for a little while, and when I went back in to check, she was asleep
AND I was thrilled.

She just spent the night at Logan's mom's house and was pretty tired. We also went to a monthly Lunch Bunch with some ladies from church and got back around 1:30 p.m. So it was already late for both of them. Now I'm relaxing and trying to rest before they both wake up.

Leah is 3 today!

Leah turned 3 today! She woke up and opened her presents this morning. She had some from Logan and I, my mom, and a package from her cousins Dallin and Ben (and their mom and dad). She was so excited to open them and see all the princess stuff she got.

She loves the Ariel pajamas my mom got for her and has been wearing them all day. She loves anything that has princesses on it and frequently grabs princess items at the store and tries to get me to buy them.

We're celebrating her birthday with friends and family tomorrow and then with Logan's mom on Monday. Leah is going to have a little sleepover at Grandma's house and give us a little rest at home. More pictures and updates to come.

We got her a set of princess figurines from the Disney Store, and she has been playing with those and the Tinker set of styling toys from Dallin and Ben. She is a true princess!
