Valentine's Day weekend

I'm a little late in posting about Valentine's Day, but we had a great weekend. Last Thursday we met up with Logan's family to see BYU's a cappella group, Vocal Point perform at the Conference Center. Logan's mom got us the tickets for Christmas this year, and we were excited to see them sing. Leah slept in the car on the way up, so we thought she would be okay to take to the concert.

She really enjoyed the songs especially when they sang a version of "Thriller" and did the choreography. It was fun night but we were all tired by the end of it.

Then on Friday I got join Logan's sister Kelcy while she tried on wedding dresses along with her mom and sis in law Haley, and it was fun to see her look so beautiful and find one that she really loved.

Later that night we had Logan's mom over for dinner and after she went home, Logan and I watched the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The show was really spectacular and showed off a lot of Canada's history that I didn't know.

On Saturday Leah and I made heart-shaped sugar cookies and took some to some of our friends in the ward. She was so excited to use the tiny heart cookie cutter and put frosting on them. That night we got pizza at Slab Pizza in Provo and brought it back to Braden and Haley's house to share with them. It was a really fun night!

On Sunday, actual Valentine's Day, Logan made heart shaped pancakes with Leah before church, and I think they were so good I ate four of them. I'm really spoiled that he makes homemade pancakes and syrup for us. That night Leah and Logan also cooked spaghetti, and she was so proud to be cooking the noodles next to her daddy.

A rare shot of the two of us taken by Leah after church. I thought it turned out to be quite cute.

Cuddling with baby dolls

Last week Leah and Cameron found the two baby dolls we have and were playing with them. We were showing him how to give the baby hugs and rock it. And it was so cute that I had to get them both on the couch at the same time.

Even though he's a rough and growling little toddler, he has his sweet moments where he loves to give hugs and kisses.

Lately he has really started to call out to us around the house. When one of us goes into the bathroom and shuts the door on him, he gets so sad and starts calling out our names. For a month now he has really started saying "mama" a lot more. He'll even calls out "mama" or "dada" in his crib when he wants us to come get him. He used to just say "dada" all the time because he loved it when Logan would come home from work. And now he is calling Leah "Ya-ya" which she loves to hear and refer to herself as "Ya-ya".

Today when it was time to get Leah up from her nap (it was a rare occasion that she did take a nap) he kept saying "ya-ya" and looking around for her. Then we opened Leah's room and he was saying it over and over, climbed on her bed, and laid down on her to give her a hug. It was so sweet.

It really melts my heart when my kids show love to each other because a lot of times they are fighting over toys.

Jumping and playing

A couple of weeks ago my good friend Laura asked us to come to this huge indoor trampoline warehouse called Jump On It. She read on their website that kids 3 and under were able to jump for free. So we met there in the afternoon and jumped until it was dinner time. It was fun to let the kids roam about and get their wiggles out. Cameron wasn't sure that he liked the trampolines because kids would come by and jump him. But he had fun just walking around and chasing Leah.

I wanted Logan to see the place so we all went together again on Saturday to let the kids jump.We had a blast there, and the best part was that it was free! We'll have to go a lot more before Leah turns 4 in September.

When we first walked in, I thought how much my brother Matt and his four wild boys would love to come here and jump for hours.

New videos

Some videos of my silly kids with their silly mom. Cameron (and Leah a little bit) dancing to some Coldplay.

The kids and I am laughing as I am looking at my sister Angie's picture. I kept zooming in and out and saying her name and they kept laughing.

January update (oh wait, it's February already)

I know I've been slacking on my blogging lately. I never miss reading other people's blogs each day, but I've been less motivated to post things myself and more interested in reading books, watching my favorites shows, playing basketball with friends and catching up on Facebook.

Anyway, here is the update from the last couple of weeks. Leah is growing up so quickly and continues to amaze us and frustrate us daily. As you can see, she loves to pose for pictures and sometimes gets jealous when we snap shots of Cameron. She has learned all her ABC's, recognizes them wherever we go, and tries to guess the beginning letter of words based on the sound. I was wondering in the past if she would ever be interested in learning her letters, and it was just a matter of time. She loves doing words games on the computer with me.

I have been behind in blogging about Cameron's development. He just turned 14 months at the end of January and continues to amaze us and make us laugh all the time. Here are some things he likes to do:

  • DROOL and it never bothers him that his shirt is sopping wet
  • Play with his wild animals and growl while he's playing
  • Chase Leah and mommy around the house
  • Give hugs and kisses (he is more generous about this with Logan maybe because he doesn't see him as often)
  • EAT, EAT and EAT some more (that comes from my side of the family because my brothers are all tall and were bottomless pits)
  • Use the signs that he knows (more, drink, milk, please, monkey, cat and he makes a lot of animal sounds - cow, sheep, horse, elephant, monkey)
  • Sleep with his favorite blanket and wad it up into a big ball
Lately they both love sitting at the table to color. Leah has phases where she wants to color all the time or wants nothing to do with coloring. And lately she wants to draw or color all the time, so Cameron of course wants to do whatever she is doing. I usually sit with Cameron on my lap and draw pictures for him while he scribbles.

And usually the one time I can count on them playing nice together is in the bath tub. We were being silly with their hair and the shampoo.
