Cameron turns 2! (and some Thanksgiving fun)

I'm a little behind on posting about our Thanksgiving trip and Cameron's birthday earlier this week. I don't know if anyone else feels a little behind and disoriented after a holiday trip, but I certainly do. It was probably all that eating! We had a blast spending time with my parents and siblings who were able to come for Thanksgiving (we really missed those that couldn't come).

First here are Cameron's stats from the doctor's office yesterday:

37 3/4 inches long (99 percentile)
31 pounds (86 percentile)

That's my tall boy! He's grown almost 6 inches since he turned one, and there's no looking back. He already fits into size 3T clothes and will probably be catching Leah in another year. He just got his staples out at the doctor's office along with his flu shot (I'm a little slow this year). And here's the story about the staples.

Some already know that Cameron fell off my parents' couch and hit his head on the coffee table while we were in Texas (it happened at 8 p.m.). Well, my dad was there to stop the bleeding, cut the hair around it (Cameron did not like this), and then he tried to put a butterfly-strip bandage on it. But the wound was deeper than he thought, so we headed over to the ER at our local hospital. My dad was the Chief of Staff last year at the hospital so he called ahead, and doctors and nurses were waiting for us there. In no time at all, Cameron had 4 staples in his head and was really to head home to bed. The only thing that saved him and us was that he was in a good mood for most of it. He took a 3-hour nap that afternoon. Poor little guy! Now he joins his cousins in my brother Matt's family who have cut their head and needed staples.

Here Cameron is opening presents at Nana and Papa's house. We celebrated with them a few days before his birthday and invited our friends from our Chicago days, the Parma family, over to have dinner and dessert.

It was so fun watching him only be interested in the first present that was unwrapped, and he wanted the box open RIGHT away!

And Leah was all too willing to help him open the presents a little faster.

We did the traditional graham cracker houses with the grandkids.

Leah had fun playing with cousins Ben and Dallin (pictured below), though she wouldn't smile for this shot.

Leah warmed up to my brother-in-law Evan who drove down with Angie from Oklahoma. Angie and Evan are always the favorites with the grandkids, and Leah especially liked sitting on Evan's lap and reading books. She is holding her graham cracker house that she decorated.

We actually got a little picture taken of the two of us. A rare moment.

And the last, but certainly not least, is a pic of my hardworking parents who made a delicious Thanksgiving meal and purchased our flights to come out. We love and miss them so much already!
