Logan is an uncle!!!

Logan's brother Braden and his wife Haley had a little baby girl yesterday. They named her Sophia Ann Molyneux, and she was 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19 inches long. We visited them today in the hospital, and it was fun to hold such a tiny baby again.

They are all doing well and getting to know each other. Congrats to the happy parents!

Here are some pictures!

More about my cute kids...

I meant to include a few more things about Cameron in my last post (turning six months). We have been trying to feed him rice cereal and a couple of other foods during the last few weeks, and he loves to spit them out. He either pushes them out with his tongue or he full-on spits and sprays me in the face.

We don't know what to do with him. Leah usually liked what ever baby foods we fed her, so it's weird to watch Cameron not like them. I think we just need to keep trying to feed so he will get used to it. He is very interested in grabbing our food at meal times, but doesn't seem to be interested in eating baby food. I hope this changes so that I don't have to be the only one feeding him. Maybe he'll just go straight to table food and be just like the rest of the family. My pediatrician suggested mixing vanilla ice cream or pudding with his rice cereal. I don't know if I want to try this, though.

And when he sits in his booster chair at the table, he always sticks his feet straight out and even hooks his big toes on the end of the tray. It seems like he is always trying to push off with his feet. He is just building up his leg strength so he can play basketball (and dunk) some day.

Leah wanted to pose for a picture shoot a couple of days ago with Cameron sitting right in front. She kept massaging his shoulders, and they both would smile big at different times so it was hard to get a good one.

He's half a year old now!

I can't believe my happy, smiley, baby boy is six months old this Friday. Where did the time go? As long as he's been fed, changed and has napped, this little boy is such a joy to be around. And even if his needs haven't been met, he's still pretty happy.

He still is a very active boy (I don't know if there are boys out there that aren't active). He is usually kicking his legs and moving his arms if he's laying on the ground. And when he is siting up, he's trying to reach out and grab the nearest thing to put in his mouth - which sometimes is my hair or shirt.

He's very good at rolling around the room and moving to where he wants to go, but he doesn't enjoy being left by himself and wants to be apart of meal time, play time and bath time. There's a good chance he will be crawling soon.

I just took him to the doctor's for his six month check up, and he is still off the charts in his height. Here are the stats:

29.5 inches long (99 percentile) -- and that's the maximum length for our infant car seat so we might have to make a switch soon.

19 pounds, 12 ounces (86 percentile)
18 inches in head circumference

He also loves to suck on his tongue any time during the day and loves to babble away while he chewing on toys.

An afternoon of swimming

I promised to post some pictures of when we went swimming last Friday, and here they are. We went to Logan's dad's place after the zoo (look down to the next post to see more about the zoo), ate lunch, and put the kids down for a nap. After they woke up we headed down to the indoor swimming pool located in his apartment complex. The water was so warm and felt like bath water.

This was Cameron's first time swimming, and he LOVED it! He couldn't get enough of it. He was moving his feet and arms all around in the water (what he does normally) and when he accidentally splashed himself in the face, he didn't even seem to mind it. There is such a difference between boys and girls. He already seems like he'll be a little fish.

We didn't bring a swim diaper for him, but just a regular one that blew up really big. And you'll notice in the last picture of him that he was sucking on his lower lip a lot while we were in the pool. He was so funny to watch him. He also likes to suck on his tongue a lot during the day, especially when he is really concentrating.

Leah also loved going swimming and jumping off the side of the pool. I have done swimming lessons with her the last two summer so I hope she is getting comfortable in the water. I just need to get her some kind of floating device so she can have more freedom in the water and practice swimming around on her own.

Oh and before we went swimming, I accidentally gave Leah part of a peanut (I wanted to just give her a bite of chocolate from some trail mix but gave her some peanut instead) that she promptly spit out.

Then we noticed her face broke out in a little rash where she had eaten the peanut, and she kept itching the spot. We gave her some allergy medicine, and thankfully she didn't get sick anymore from it. I guess she hasn't grown out of her peanut allergy, and we just need to be more careful with her.

Hogle Zoo

Logan took the day off on Friday so we planned an all-day outing which started with the Hogle Zoo. We met Logan's dad and his sister Jenna there. And as soon as Grandpa arrived, she only wanted to look at the animals with him and didn't pay much attention to mom or dad after that.

The zoo was full of school children with their teachers, parents with their kids, and kids with other kids. So we had to take turns seeing the animals. Leah was such a trooper and walked for a lot of the zoo because we put Logan's dad's cooler full of food on our double stroller. She didn't mind having to walk because it allowed her to have the freedom to see the animals, but it made her pretty tired. We left just before noon and headed to Logan's dad's house for lunch, naps for the kids and an afternoon of swimming. (another post of swimming pics to come)

Here she is watching a turtle eat his breakfast in the exhibit called "Madagascar".

Here's the "big giraffe" that Leah kept pointing at and showing everyone. "Look at that big giraffe," she kept saying.

Spending time with family

I have to play catch up on my blog since I have pictures from the last two weeks that I haven't posted. The first ones were taken when my oldest brother Danny, his wife Chalise and their family were in town for her sister's wedding. I drove out to Salem, UT (on May 12th) for the reception by myself and the kids because Logan had to work that night.

It was so much fun seeing their family and letting Leah play outside with them. She especially liked playing on the bridge over Salem Lake. The last time Danny and his family were in Utah was just after Thanksgiving and after Cameron was born, and they stopped by our house to hang out. I can't believe how fast their kids have grown up.

The following week (on May 19th) my mother-in-law Carolyn came down to spend the afternoon with me and the kids. Her birthday was the next day so Leah and I decorated a picture frame to put on her fridge. I used the same photo of Leah and Cameron that's on the side bar labeled May 2009.

During the afternoon we went to the BYU Museum of Art and saw an exhibit by Walter Wick about Games, Gizmos and Toys in the Attic. After that we went to the little botany pond on the sound end of campus where you can watch and feed the ducks. Leah loves making trips there especially to see the baby ducks. I brought some old bread to throw to the ducks, and Leah kept wanting to eat the bread while she was feeding the ducks.

Carolyn treated us to some Tomasso's Italian Ice at the outdoor Riverwoods shopping area. Hmm, it was so tasty. We were both sharing with Leah, but she kept taking my cup and saying "This is mine, mommy. Don't take it." I was quick to remind her that I was sharing with her. Anyway, we had a fun afternoon.

I finally saw it

TWILIGHT!

Yes, I know it's been out for almost six months now. But my life has been a little crazy in the last six months, and my husband wasn't really interested in watching it. So I finally found some time last Friday night while Logan was working, and the kids were in bed. I must say, I loved it!! And I can't wait to see the next one. I thought they did a great job of casting all of the characters, except the guys who plays Jasper kind of freaks me out.

My actual birthday - Monday

Logan made me breakfast on Monday morning - chocolate chip pancakes, syrup and whip cream (a family favorite we adopted from my sister-in-law Kristin). And because I woke up early with the kids and was still tired, Logan let me go back to sleep for an hour and a half and it was wonderful.

He also made me lunch -hot dogs, corn on the cob, and cheesecake left over from Mothers' Day. And because we had another coupon for free dessert from Chili's, we decided to meet there for dinner.

My good friend Anna from my ward watched Leah for us, and I brought Cameron to dinner. It was so fun to have two dates with my husband for my birthday. I am so blessed to be married to a wonderful man who has made me feel so special. Thank you to everyone who helped me celebrate over the weekend and helped watch our kids.

Oh, and you can't really tell from this picture (I couldn't get my camera to focus up close) but I just got my wedding ring cleaned for my birthday. It had been a couple of years, and I am so pleased at how they look brand new again.

Birthday weekend - part 2

On Saturday evening Logan and I went to dinner while Logan's sister Kelcy and her roommate babysat our kids. We ate dinner at Red Robin (one of our favorite restaurants because of the fries and strawberry lemonade). I received a coupon for a free birthday burger there which we gladly redeemed. We also had a gift card with some money left that we used to paid for our lemonade, so it ended up costing us nothing but a tip.

Next we went shopping at the Provo Town Center mall because Logan still wanted to find some khaki pants (his birthday was last month). It was fun to take our time and shop without having to worry about the kids. We got to give each other our full attention. We finished out the night getting some ice cream at Coney's Frozen Custard. It was sooo good.
(Sorry, no pictures from that night)

Then on Sunday I took at long afternoon nap while the kids were sleeping. And then we celebrated Mothers' Day and my birthday with Logan's siblings and his mom. Logan asked me what I wanted for dinner and dessert, and I picked to have brisket (to remind me of Texas) with yummy sides and cherry cheesecake for dessert. Every thing was delicious. And Logan and his brother Braden even cleaned up after dinner since it was Mother's Day, and the rest of us were girls. I was thoroughly spoiled.

And speaking of Mother's Day, I am so very blessed to be the mother of these darling kids. I couldn't ask for more precious children in our family. Just tonight before bed, I was talking to Leah about families and how Logan and I loved each other so much that we wanted to get married. And she asked "You and daddy love each other?" and I replied "Yes, we do." And she said, "I love Daddy and Cameron and you, Mommy."

Oh, how they melt my heart.

And I would love to say how much I am grateful for my own mother and my mother-in-law. They are both there to talk to me and give me motherly advice. While growing up, my own mom was and continues to be such a great example of sacrifice, unconditional love, and support. She's been there for me for both of my babies' births and helped me get started as a new mother. I'm so glad that she raised me in the gospel and taught me how to love those around me. Happy Mother's Day (a few days late), Mom!

Birthday weekend - part 1

I got to celebrate for three days this past weekend since it was Mother's Day on Sunday and my birthday yesterday. We started on Saturday when we took Leah to an indoor fun center called Kangaroo Zoo. We invited our friends Laura and Kart to come with us along with their two kids, Aiden and Emma. Aiden is three and plays with Leah in the nursery at church. Leah has wanted Logan to come with her to Kangaroo Zoo for a while so we thought Saturday would be the perfect time.

Kangaroo Zoo had lots of blown up slides and jumping houses that kids can go crazy on. Leah loves climbing up to the top and sliding down on her stomach. She has improved so much with her coordination and climbing. And Cameron was just happy to be a part of the action in the Bjorn. He kicking his legs and waving his arms the entire time. And we made it back to our house, we invited the Barnetts over for lunch - hot dogs, chips and fruit.

Legos are so cool

I don't know why, but all of a sudden Leah has decided that building houses and towers with her big Legos are so much fun. They have been collecting dust in her closet for the last five months until we pulled them out a few weeks ago when Logan's family was visiting. She has loved playing with them ever since.

She loves to build houses for her stuffed animals or her Barbie dolls. Or she wants to build a really tall tower. And then ask me to take a picture of her.

Cameron is 5 months old

I just want to tell my little boy to STOP GROWING so fast! He's getting too big for his britches. He has been wanting to sit up more and more but still needs help with that. We have a little bouncy seat that we put him in at meal times, and he keeps leaning forward in it. He likes to grab anything within reach, and he is especially interested in our food.

He is a happy little guy while in his car seat. He usually will sit quietly where ever we go, and play with his toys or watch what Leah is doing. We are still working on getting him to sleep through the night, but he has made a little bit of progress of going to sleep by himself and taking better naps.

We have tried rice cereal with him, but his tongue usually pushes it out again. So I'm constantly trying to get it back into his mouth. But I think with practice he will get the hang of it.

One day I was putting on my makeup at the kitchen table, and Leah always likes to grab my blush brushes and play with them. Cameron was sitting in her booster seat, so Leah decided to make Cameron her guinea pig for applying makeup. She also loves to play with my hair or Logan's hair. One day I came back home to find Leah putting bows all over Logan's hair. I thought it was a cute father/daughter moment. He was being so patient, and so is Cameron in this video.
